They Were Angels?

  

Sandy Alomar (1969-1974)

Father of second baseman Roberto Alomar and catcher Sandy Alomar Jr. Had his best season with the Angels in 1971 when he hit .260 and played in all 162 games.

Bobby Bonds (1976-1977)

Father of current major leaguer Barry Bonds.  Had 37 homeruns, 115 RBI's, and 41 stolen bases in his last season as an Angel.

Bill Buckner (1987-1988)

Red Sox legend (for the wrong reasons), played in 76 games over a span of two seasons for the Halos, hitting .288.

Jose Canseco (2001)

Former Bash Brother and steroid user, Canseco played with the Angels during Spring Training in 2001.  He was released before the season started after he hit just .231 with 0 home runs in the spring. 

Jerry DaVanon (1974)

Father of current Angel Jeff DaVanon.  Played 41 games as a back-up infielder for the Angels.  In 49 at bats, he batted .245 with 2 RBI's. 

Cecil Fielder (1998)

Former Detroit Tiger's slugger hit 51 homeruns for Detroit in 1990 after playing a few years in Japan.  As an Angel, he batted .241 with 17 homeruns in 103 games.

Rickey Henderson (1997)

Major League Baseball's all-time steals leader played in 32 games for the Angels in 1997.  He posting a .183 batting average with 16 stolen bases.

Bo Jackson (1994)

One of the first, and most popular, two-sport stars.  He played his final 75 games in baseball as an Angel.  Knee injuries took their toll on this infamous player, causing him to retire shortly after the 1994 season in which he batted .279 with 13 homeruns as an Angel.

Tommy John (1982-1985)

More famous for the operation named after him than his baseball career, John went 24-32 in 85 games for the Angels.

Eddie Murray (1997)

Hall Of Fame first baseman played in 46 games with the Angels towards the end of his career.  He batted just .219 with 3 homeruns in an Angels uniform.  Overall, he ended his career with 504 career homeruns.

Dave Parker (1991)

Long-time Pittsburg great played in 119 games for the Angels in the early 90's.  Parker hit for a .232 average with 11 home runs as an Angel.  In his career, "The Cobra" hit 339 career homeruns.

Harold Reynolds (1994)

Known mostly for his presence as an ESPN Baseball analyst, this light-hitting infielder played his final 74 games in baseball as an Angel, hitting a whopping .232. 

Frank Robinson (1973-1974)

HOF player, and current manager of the Nationals, hit 50 of his 586 career homeruns in an Angels uniform. 

Lee Smith (1995-1996)

Baseball's all-time saves leader recorded 37 of his record 478 saves as a member of the Angels.  Became Troy Percival's mentor.

Bill Stoneman (1974)

Currently the Angels General Manager.  The last pitches he threw in his Big League career came as a member of the Angels.  He went 1-8 with a 6.14 ERA in 13 games.

Don Sutton (1985-1987)

HOF pitcher, and Dodger great, recorded his 300th win as a member of the Angels.  28 of his 324 career wins came as an Angel.

Luis Tiant (1982)

Cuban Hero and Red Sox great, played the final 6 games of his career as an Angel.  He posted a 2-2 record with a 5.76 ERA. 

Bobby Valentine (1973-1975)

Remembered more as the manager of the Mets than as a player,  Valentine played in 175 games as an Angel, batting .273.

Fernando Valenzuela (1991)

"Fernando Mania" swept through Anaheim for 2 games in the early 90's.  Fernando finished his Angel career after posting an 0-2 record with a 12.15 ERA.

Mitch Williams (1995)

Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams was best known for giving up the World Series clinching homerun to Joe Carter in the 1993 World Series.  A few years later, he played in 20 games for the Angels, going 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA.  He was released after allowing 21 walks in just 10 2/3 innings pitched that season.

Dave Winfield (1990-1991)

This Hall Of Fame player slugged 47 of his career 465 homeruns during his 262 games as a Halo.
